Automobiles in Germany's City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Police reported they were notified by a resident who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.

Officers say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then discovered numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state early analysis indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking official commented the incident left him stunned and had to be solved rapidly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
